Great white hunted, killed

SYDNEY -- A great white shark believed to be responsible for attacking and killing diver Paul Buckland here last week has been killed, reports said yesterday.

A local television station said the shark was hunted down and that pieces of a wetsuit were found in its stomach. Authorities warned that anyone suspected of harming great whites risked prosecution. -- Sapa-DPA

Anti-shark attack device failed to save diver from killer white pointer
Port Lincoln scallop diver Paul Buckland was wearing an electronic shark-repelling device when he was killed by a six-metre female white pointer that has been harassing boats in South Australia's west coast fishing community for two months.

Remains in shark identified

SYDNEY, Australia -- Human remains found inside a huge tiger shark caught off Australia's eastern coast belong to a fisherman, police said yesterday.

A skull, arm and pelvis were found on Sunday when a fisherman cut open the three-metre-long shark after catching it about 100km north of here.

Police said the remains inside the 370 kilogram shark were those of 52-year-old Kang Suk Lee, from Sydney. Lee was washed into the sea while fishing from rocks near Port Kembla, about 150km south of Sydney, on April 2.-- Sapa-AP
